How were the names selected?
In 2023, the Victorian Government announced that Aboriginal language names would be preferenced in an initiative to further promote Aboriginal self-determination, language, and culture across the state.
The 2025 new school names were chosen with input from Geographic Names Victoria, Traditional Owner groups and via public consultation. Names were finalised by Traditional Owner groups before approval by the Minister for Education.
