About the project
We’re building a new primary school in Clyde North. It will open day one of Term 1 in 2025 and help the growing local population get great education close to home.
The school is open for enrolments for students in Prep to Grade 6. It will be able to enrol up to 650 students when the school is complete. You can find out if you're in the school enrolment zone by entering your address at findmyschool.vic.gov.au.
For enrolment enquiries, please email mirniyan.ps@education.vic.gov.au(opens in a new window).
Your new school’s name
Mirniyan Primary School was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Mirniyan (pronounced mern-ee-yan) is a Bunurong word meaning moon.
We used Thompsons West Primary School as an interim name while the school was being planned, designed, and built.
Principal appointment
Nicole Walker has been appointed principal of Mirniyan Primary School. She has 35 years' experience in education and been principal of 3 government primary schools. She is an optimistic, passionate and self-driven leader. She embraces school culture and creating safe and beneficial learning environments for all.

Once completed, the school will include:
- an administration and library building
- 2 learning neighbourhoods
- a community hub
- hardcourts
