About the project
We've opened a new primary school in Wollert. It opened in 2025, helping the growing local population get great education close to home.
The school is open for enrolments for students in Prep to Grade 6.
Bec Spink was appointed as the first principal of the school.
The school was known by its interim name, Wollert Central Primary School, during planning and design. Wirrigirri Primary School was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Wirrigirri (pronounced werry-jerry) is a Woi-wurrung word of the Wurundjeri people meaning messenger.
For enrolment enquiries or to learn more about the school, please email wirrigirri.ps@education.vic.gov.au.
Facilities
When completed, the school will include:
- an administration and library building
- 3 learning neighbourhoods
- a community hub
- hardcourts
- a carpark
- a sports field.
We’re building the school in stages. When the school opened in Term 1, 2025 facilities included:

- 3 relocatable classrooms
- a relocatable administration building including front office, staff room, toilets and first aid
