About the project

We’re building a new primary school in Pakenham. It will open day one of Term 1 in 2025 and help the growing local population get great education close to home.

The school is open for enrolments for students in Prep to Grade 6. It will be able to enrol up to 525 students when the first stage of the school is complete. You can find out if you're in the school enrolment zone by entering your address at findmyschool.vic.gov.au.

For enrolment enquiries, please email kuyim.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

Your new school’s name

Kuyim Primary School was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Kuyim (pronounced koo-yim) is a Bunurong word meaning kangaroo.

We used Pakenham North West Primary School as an interim name while the school was being planned, designed, and built.

Principal appointment

Zania Cope has been appointed principal of Kuyim Primary School. Her education career spans over 33 years and includes several leadership and principal roles. Zania looks forward to bringing her passion for collaboration and inclusion to a new school setting. She hopes to create a vibrant education community that cultivates lifelong learners.

Facilities

Once completed, the school will include:

  • an administration and library building
  • 2 learning neighbourhoods
  • hardcourts
  • a carpark
  • a sports field
  • a community hub.

Funding

In the 2023–24 State Budget the school received a share of $573.178 million
