About the project

We built a new primary school in Pakenham. It opened in 2025, helping the growing local population get great education close to home.

The school is open for enrolments for students in Prep to Grade 6.

Zania Cope was appointed as the first principal of the school.

The school was known by its interim name, Pakenham North West Primary School, during planning and design. Kuyim Primary School was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Kuyim (pronounced koo-yim) is a Bunurong word meaning kangaroo.

For enrolment enquiries or to learn more about the school, please email kuyim.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

Facilities

When the school opened in Term 1, 2025 facilities included:

  • an administration and library building
  • 2 learning neighbourhoods
  • a carpark
  • a sports field.

We are also finishing the hardcourts and community hub. We expect this will be ready for Term 4, 2025.

Funding

In the 2023–24 State Budget the school received a share of $573.178 million
