About the project
We built a new kindergarten at Muyan Primary School.
The new building will open in Term 1, 2026 and has 2 kindergarten rooms.
Having the kindergarten and school together may help local children make a smooth transition into primary school and can also make drop-off time simpler for some families.
Enrolment
Mitchell Shire Council have appointed Uniting Vic.Tas to run the kindergarten. All enrolment and program enquires are managed by Mitchell Shire Council. Visit their website for more information.
Your new kindergarten name
Muyan Kindergarten was chosen as this kindergarten's name following community and Traditional Owner Group consultation. Muyan (pronounced moo-yun) is a Wurundjeri Woi wurrung language word meaning silver wattle.
While being built this kindergarten had the interim names of Muyan Primary School Kindergarten and Wallan East Primary School Kindergarten.
Funding
In the 2023–24 State Budget, this project shared in $1.3 billion allocated to build around 100 new kindergartens to support Best Start, Best Life.
