[We see a tram, then cut to a shot of street signs that read nelson Street and City of Port Phillip Balaclava Kindergarten. Tarryn Holland [voiceover]: We're really entrenched in the community. We've been here 115 years, so I think it's been not just about future, but also about past and that connecting those two things and people being really proud to come back and say, ‘Wow, look at what you've done, this is such an amazing space.’

Tarryn: So in order to complete the project, we got funding from the Victorian School Building Authority, and we knew we couldn't complete it without that portion of the funding.

[Panning shot of the kindergarten playground. We see tanbark, lots of big trees and a sandpit. There are other clips of the large verandah space, which is full of plants, tables and chairs, toys and play areas. We see a shot of a kitchen garden bed with tomatoes and zucchini plants.]

Tarryn: We applied for the Building Blocks grant and were successful in that, and therefore we were able to go ahead with the project.

[We see the interior of the kinder building – the first shot of the vaulted ceiling space with skylight windows and large light fixtures. We pan through a staff space with a long desk that looks out through green windows to the outside playspace. Then back to Tarryn speaking to camera.]

Tarryn: The old building had a lot of issues and problems. The difference that the project has made to the whole kinder is... you can't even put words. The light is beautiful, it feels good. It's got good energy.

[We pan through different interior spaces – another shot of the high ceilings, a fireplace decorated with pictures, a kitchen area]

Tarryn: We considered things like children's doors, clear pathways, spaces that made it easy for everyone to access the space and just enjoy being together. You know, even in the outdoor space, having areas where we could all sit together and chat and yarn and be together as a community.
