About the project
Saltwater P–9 College is a new school that will cater for Prep to Year 9 students. This school, designed by Architectus and K2LD as part of the Growth Areas Schools Project, was a winner of the 'Minister's Award for Excellence' in the 2019 Victorian School Design Awards.
Stage 1 facilities include a:
- library
- learning community
- gym and performing arts centre.
Stage 1 is complete and opened for its first cohort of Prep–Year 6 students in Term 1, 2019. Years 7–9 students will be enrolled at the school when the planned future stages are complete.
Saltwater Community Centre is located next to Saltwater P–9 College, helping local children make a smooth transition from pre-school and reducing the number of drop-offs for some parents with kinder and school-aged children.
Saltwater P–9 College has an official Facebook page. Follow it for all the latest updates.
Funding
The 2017-18 State Budget allocated $13.806 million towards the school. The school received an additional $3.1 million in the 2018-19 State Budget.

About the project
After opening its doors for Prep-Year 6 students in 2019, the latest funding allowed us to build the extra facilities needed for secondary education. We built a learning community and a specialist building, a sports oval and multi-courts.
These new facilities will be ready for Year 7 students in 2022, Years 7 and 8 in 2023 and Years 7, 8 and 9 in 2024.
Funding
In 2020, the second stage of this school project shared in $438.6 million of funding for new schools.
