About the project
We built a new secondary college in Clyde North. It opened in 2026, helping the growing local population get great education close to home.
In its first year of operation, Birranga College opened to Year 7 students only. It will progress by year level thereafter.
Nick Hamer-Smith was appointed the first principal of the school.
The school was known by its interim name, Clyde Creek North Secondary School, during planning and design. Birranga College was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Birranga (pronounced BEE-rang-uh) is a Boonwurrung language word meaning feathertail glider.
For enrolment enquiries or to learn more about the school, please visit birrangacollege.vic.edu.au or email birranga.co@education.vic.gov.au.
