About the project
We're building a specialist school in Point Cook South. It will open day one of Term 1 2026.
The school will provide education for students with mild to profound intellectual disability. A full enrolment policy, providing detailed entry eligibility criteria, will be available during Term 2 2025.
The school is being built offsite by a specialist modular builder. Once complete, the school will include:
- 4 learning neighbourhoods including classrooms and staff spaces
- an administration and library building including staff spaces and first aid room
- a multi-purpose building with dedicated spaces for physical activity and fitness, performing arts, food technology and a canteen
- playgrounds and shaded areas
- multiple half-court hard courts
- a secure bus pickup/drop-off area
- a staff carpark.
Point Cook South Specialist School will initially share the site with Point Cook South P-9 (interim name), although the schools will operate independently.

Your new school’s name
We have been using Point Cook South Specialist School as an interim name throughout planning for this new school. We recently consulted with the community on a name.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the public consultation process and provided their feedback and naming preferences.
The Department of Education will use the survey responses to help inform the decision on each new school’s name before being announced by the Minister for Education. We will share this new name once it is announced.
