The works will fix old buildings, deliver extra classrooms and build 10 brand new schools in Victoria's education system, creating more than 1,600 local construction jobs in communities across Victoria. Works include:
- $438.6 million to help build 10 new schools and deliver a further four stages of new school projects to open in 2022 across the state, to provide almost 7,000 spaces for Victorian students. This includes $119 million to build the Greater Shepparton Secondary College as part of the Shepparton Education Plan
- just over $130 million for the Established Areas Program to provide additional capacity at nine metropolitan schools to meet enrolment growth, supporting space for 1,550 students
- $114.5 million to purchase and refurbish relocatable school buildings, to provide an additional 12,775 spaces for Victorian students in the 2021 school year, as part of the Relocatable Buildings Program
- $388.8 million to deliver 57 upgrade and modernisation projects at schools across Victoria. This includes $4.25 million to rebuild Clifton Creek Primary School, which was destroyed in the 2019-20 Victorian bushfires
- $10 million to support infrastructure modifications for schools that have students with disabilities, as part of the Accessible Buildings Program
- $20 million for a Minor Capital Works Fund to bring forward small priority projects identified by schools.
The more than $1.18 billion investment is part of the Victorian Government's wider $2.7 billion Building Works stimulus package which will create 3,700 jobs across the state.

MY SCHOOL HAS RECEIVED FUNDING. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
The Minister for Education is sending a letter to each school receiving funding, outlining what the funding amount includes, details of any training required and key contacts.
What is being built at my school?
Some schools will have received funding to begin planning and designing an upgrade project, others will be funded to begin or complete construction.
We tailor every building project to the needs of the school and school community. This starts with your school creating a five-year asset management plan to guide maintenance and upgrade works.
The foundation of the plan is your school's 'educational vision', looking at the curriculum areas that they want to develop or enhance over the next five years. Schools create this in consultation with staff and students, and we provide training to help them through the process.
WHAT ABOUT NEW SCHOOLS?
Building a new school is a bit different, because there is no existing school staff or community to develop an asset management plan.
So we consult the local community, so their needs and aspirations help shape the school's design.
