There are lots of ways early childhood centres can reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission in their buildings. These include:
Building works may further improve ventilation and air flow, and this new funding offers $4,500 to support such projects. It's available to all Victorian not-for-profit early childhood education and care services offering kindergarten programs for three or four-year-olds.
Projects could include:
Kindergartens wishing to proceed will receive funding in early Term 4, 2021. They must manage their projects and comply with all policies and regulations outlined in the funding guidelines below.
Funding is accessible now
Accepting funding is quick and simple.
All eligible providers will receive an email in early Term 4 from the Victorian Government. Here they will be asked to confirm that funding will be used to improve ventilation/air purification, or to enhance outdoor learning spaces. Once confirmed, funds will be made available via the Kindergarten Information Management System (KIMS) https://kim.eduweb.vic.gov.au/ .
This is not a competitive grants program and there are no merit selection criteria. Kindergartens that meet the eligibility requirements, and confirm its correct use, will receive funding.
Please read the program guidelines and FAQs before accepting the funding:Kinder Ventilation Support Funding Guidance and FAQs
While for-profit providers are not eligible for this funding, they are encouraged to review the Department's guidance for early childhood education and care services.
